As disclosed, the company received approval for the Honghu 3,500 TEU containership design, which will feature an ammonia dual-fuel engine and a low energy consumption. Specifically, the vessel is expected to have a daily fuel consumption about 10% lower than the similar ships in the market, according to Huangpu Wenchong.

Earlier on, the firm secured approval for this ship design from classification society DNV.

Meanwhile, the Haiying 82,000-ton methanol dual-fuel bulk carrier was designed to meet the various new regulatory requirements. The ship can be equipped with various energy-saving technologies, such as shaft-mounted generators and wind-assisted rotors or sails.

The vessel also features gas layer drag reduction systems. Additionally, it offers multiple design solutions for alternative fuels, according to the Chinese company.

CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company

In June this year, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company, which is a part of Chinese heavyweight China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), scored an order to build six 2,400 TEU methanol dual-fuel containerships for Taiwanese container shipping company Evergreen Marine.

Earlier on, the shipbuilder also received a contract from Cyprus-based shipping company Lemissoler Navigation to construct up to eight methanol dual-fuel 65,000 dwt bulk carriers. The project marked the firm’s entry into the new shipbuilding segment, strengthening its position in green shipbuilding.
