California DWR Requests Permits for Delta Project

Business & Finance

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District, will evaluate a California Department of Water Resources permit application, required to construct three temporary salinity barriers in waters of the California Delta.

The public is invited to review the DWR request and submit comments by April 22, 2015. This project would place dredged or fill material into approximately 4.81 acres (0.75 acre permanent and 3.15 acres temporary) of Delta waterways.

The barriers will be located in Miner Slough, approximately 5 miles upstream of the Sacramento River in Solano County, Steamboat Slough, 0.8 miles upstream of the confluence with the Sacramento Deep Water Shipping Channel (Cache Slough) on the border between Sacramento and Solano Counties, and West False River, approximately 0.4 mile east of the confluence with the San Joaquin River in Contra Costa County.
