Briggs Marine placed the order for the vessel in December 2022 and Freire Shipyard launched Forth Constructor and moved it to a “wet berth” at its yard in Vigo in July 2024.

The vessel, designed by Cintranaval in collaboration with the Spanish shipyard’s design department, will support Briggs Marine’s contracts with the UK government, as well as offshore wind farms and commercial ports.

Forth Constructor will be deployed primarily for inspection, servicing, and replacement of aids to navigation (AtoN) and heavy inshore moorings in the UK and overseas. It can also perform a range of offshore support tasks including seabed investigation and survey, offshore wind support and inshore cable laying assistance, according to Briggs Marine.

The vessel is 40 meters long and has a diesel-electric DP-2 propulsion system, according to Freire Shipyard.

Forth Constructor features a moonpool, a detachable A-frame, a 4-point mooring system, and a survey project office. The vessel also incorporates a demountable crew transfer vessel (CTV) boarding ladder to support offshore wind farm projects.
