BP charters Safe Zephyrus flotel for Clair Ridge support

Business & Finance

BP has chartered Prosafe’s Safe Zephyrus offshore accommodation rig for gangway connected operations at the Clair Ridge platform west of Shetland in the UK sector of the North Sea.

Prosafe on Thursday said the Safe Zephyrus would support “some post first oil scopes” in summer months when the weather is favorable at the Clair Ridge platform.

The firm duration of the contract starting mid-May 2019 is five months with a one-month option and directly follows the completion of the Johan Sverdrup contract with Equinor in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The Safe Zephyrus began its one-year contract with Equinor in May 2018.

Total value of the contract with BP, excluding the option periods, is approximately USD 19 million.

Jesper Kragh Andresen, CEO of Prosafe says: “For the second year in a row Prosafe will be providing BP with a high quality vessel at Clair Ridge. The Safe Zephyrus’ track record of gangway connected operations is second to none since her delivery in 2016, and together with the Prosafe team represents the best the industry can offer.”
