Benin to Install Second Submarine Broadband Cable

Benin announced plans to install a second submarine broadband cable in order to increase Internet capacity, African Manager informs.

The first phase worth around US$35 million will be funded through the credit from the International Development Association (IDA), repayable over 40 years with 10 years grace period.

The funding agreement was signed in 2012 between the World Bank and the Beninese authorities, and last week it was confirmed by the National Assembly, signaling the start of the project’s implementation.
