Banle Energy International, a Hong Kong subsidiary of marine fuel logistic company Banle Energy Group, has completed two B24 biofuel bunkering services for Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming at Malaysia’s Port Klang, marking the port’s first biofuel bunkering supply.

In partnership with Green Marine Supply and Armada Meridian, Banle Energy performed bunkering services to Yang Ming on June 28 and July 10 at Malaysia’s largest port.

According to the company, this was an important step in responding to the global call for the shipping industry’s low-carbon transformation.

The B24 biofuel is a blend of used cooking oil methyl ester (UCOME) and traditional marine fuel. Compared to traditional marine fuel, the B24 biofuel blend is projected to reduce approximately 20% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Teck Lim Chia, Chairman and CEO of Banle Energy, commented: “We are honored to facilitate Port Klang’s first inaugural B24 biofuel bunkering services. This milestone not only marks a significant step in the Group’s sustainable development journey but also demonstrates our contribution to the global shipping industry’s low-carbon transition.

“Banle Energy will continue to expand its business scope and stay committed to meeting the diverse needs of shipowner customers, further solidifying our position as a leading ship fuel supplier in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Earlier this year, Banle Energy and Yang Ming collaborated on B24 biofuel bunkering supply in Shenzhen, China. The transaction marked the first B24 biofuel supply in Shenzhen and Yang Ming’s inaugural B24 biofuel bunkering supply in China.

The Taiwanese shipping major decided to adopt sustainable biofuel into its fleet to respond to the 2050 net-zero emissions goal.

By embracing biofuel, the company wants to achieve a substantial reduction of approximately 20% in carbon emissions compared to conventional fuel oil.
