Bangladesh issued a request for expression of interest to shortlist potential suppliers of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the country’s import terminal on spot basis.

According to the EOI document issued by Bangladesh Oil, Gas & Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) the closing of the tender is scheduled for July 30.

The government of Bangladesh is looking to import LNG for meeting up the future demand growth.

Petrobangla has signed terminal use agreement with Excelerate Energy and Summit LNG to install FSRU based LNG terminal in the Moheshkhali Region. Each terminal has a full capacity of 3.75 mtpa. According to the EOI LNG will be delivered on delivery ex-ship (DES) basis.

Petrobangla is currently in discussion with LNG producers to decide the quantities of liquefied natural gas to be delivered under long-term contracts and the portion to be sourced from the spot market.

The terminal being developed by Excelerate Energy is scheduled to be commissioned by April 2018 and the Summit terminal by October 2018.
