Balticconnector Gets Equipment Delivery in Finland

Balticconnector project has received main equipment delivery, including a compressor unit and its auxiliaries, for the compression station in Inkoo, Finland.

Equipment installation has started and will be completed in April 2019. After that, installation work will continue with the installation of pipelines and cables related to the equipment.

The compressor unit and its auxiliaries are delivered from France by Thermodyn, which is part of Baker Hugh, a GE company.

“It is great that the compressor unit is delivered precisely at the agreed time so that we can then continue with the installation work as planned,” said worksite manager Mikko Ruokonen.

The station’s mechanical readiness will be reached in summer after which testing and commissioning will begin. The station will be ready for deployment in December 2019.

“The delivery of the equipment to the compressor station is one of the project milestones and will ensure that the entire project advances as scheduled,” added Tom Främling, Baltic Connector Oy’s project director.

Balticconnector is a gas pipeline being built between Finland and Estonia. When completed,  Balticconnector will connect the gas networks of Finland and the Baltic countries and will enable the opening of the gas market in Finland.

Baltic Connector Oy is responsible for the Finnish part of the project, and Elering for the Estonian part. Both companies are wholly owned by the Finnish and the Estonian states.
