AW-Energy gets onboard Red Herring’s Top 100 companies

Business & Finance

AW-Energy, a Finnish wave energy developer, has been included in Red Herring’s Top 100 winners for 2015.

Red Herring’s Top 100 Europe award comprises a list of the year’s most promising private technology ventures from the European business region.

The Finalists have presented their winning strategies at the Red Herring Europe Forum in Amsterdam that took place from April 13 to 15, 2015.

AW-Energy has developed WaveRoller wave energy converter. The device works when the back and forth movement of water driven by wave surge puts the panel into motion, which triggers the hydraulic piston, attached to the panel, to pump the hydraulic fluids inside a closed hydraulic circuit.

The high-pressure fluids are fed into a hydraulic motor that drives an electricity generator, producing electricity, which is then fed to the grid via subsea cable.

Red Herring is a media company that reports about the global innovation economy, and the emerging technologies.
