Avic Dingheng Starts Building Thun Tankers’ Ships

Business & Finance

China’s shipbuilder Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding has launched the construction 17,500 dwt tankers ordered by Dutch coastal shipping firm Thun Tankers.

The steel cutting ceremony for the first ship from the batch was held over the weekend, according to the company.

In April 2017, Thun Tankers decided to order four 17,500 dwt IMO II tankers, which are scheduled for delivery between April 2019 and January 2020. At the beginning of September, the company opted to add a fifth tanker to the orderbook.

Following delivery, the five vessels, which will be built with focus on energy efficiency, sustainability and new regulations, would enter the Gothia Tanker Alliance network.

The tankers will be commercially managed by Furetank, the company responsible for the intermediate segment within the Alliance.
