Atlas Copco wins compressor order for Kogas small-scale LNG newbuilds

Vessels

Atlas Copco Gas and Process division secured a compressor order for the two LNG carriers being built by Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea for Kogas.

The order is for a total of four centrifugal gas compressors, four gas screws compressors along with the necessary heaters and vaporizers, to be used on the vessels, Atlas Copco said.

Featuring a compact design specifically tailored to the needs of the smaller vessels, the compressors will be deployed for the cargo handling systems aboard the two small-scale LNG carriers.

The vapor return compressors will provide tank pressure control during loading and the fuel-gas compressors will feed excess boil-off gas to the gas engine during operation, Atlas Copco’s statement reads.

The two vessels will have a 7,500 cubic meter transport capacity and will joint the Kogas fleet upon completion.
