Atlantis’ MeyGen foundations installation moves forward

Operations & Maintenance

Atlantis Resources has informed that another tidal turbine has been installed as a part of its MeyGen Phase 1A project.

The first turbine foundation on the project has been deployed on October 7, in the Pentland Firth, off Caithness.

The total of four 1.5 MW turbines, three of which were built by Andritz Hydro Hammerfest, and one is the AR1500 Atlantis turbine, will be installed in the Phase 1A of the project.

The turbines, weighting almost 200 tones each, are being installed by GeoSea’s jack-up vessel MV Neptune, with the support of DP2 vessel Aker Wayfarer which is mobilizing the turbines for the project.

When completed, the MeyGen project will consist of 269 turbines and generate enough energy to power 175,000 UK homes.
