Armada Kraken FPSO Starts Offshore Commissioning

The floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Kraken development has completed its shore-based commissioning activities at the quayside in Singapore and has also completed the vessel’s inclination testing programme.

The FPSO, named Armada Kraken, has left the yard and is now sailing to deep water anchorage, to undertake commissioning work on the water injection pumps, HSP power fluid pumps, sulphate reduction packages, lifeboats and fire, water and deluge systems.

The naming ceremony of the Armada Kraken took place at Keppel Shipyard on Saturday, August 27, 2016.

Armada Kraken is designed for operations in the UK sector of the North Sea, 350 kilometers North-East of Aberdeen and 130 kilometers East of Shetland, at a water depth of approximately 120 meters.

The FPSO is on schedule to sailaway to the North Sea during this quarter as planned. The journey should take approximately 50 days, bringing the vessel to the Kraken field on course for first oil in H1 2017.

Armada Kraken is able to handle a peak fluid rate of 460,000 barrels per day (bpd) and 80,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd), 275,000 bpd of water injection, 20 million standard cubic feet (MMscf) of gas handling and has a storage capacity of 600,000 barrels.
