Altitec Receives DNV GL Training System Certificate

Authorities & Government

Altitec has received a Training System Certificate by DNV GL for its Rotor Blade Repair and Inspection Training course held at the Altitec Academy in London, UK.

According to Altitec, the certification provides a stamp of approval to the course and reassures new technicians and employers alike that the training offered by the Altitec Academy provides technical and safety competency.

The certification was in accordance with DNV GL guidelines for the certification of training in the wind energy industry and DNV GL Rotor Blade Standards, the company said.

“We are delighted to have received this certification from DNV GL, which reflects the high standard of training provided by the Altitec Academy,” said Tom Dyffort, Managing Director at Altitec Group.

Well-trained technicians are in demand right now, and the Altitec Academy offers a chance for many more to develop these skills and pursue a new career path.”

Each year Altitec trains around 150 new blade inspection and repair technicians for a career in the wind industry at its dedicated training center, the company said, adding that the lack of a widely recognized qualification of blade repair standards was previously a key factor in dissuading job-seekers from entering the wind sector, resulting in a skills gap in the labour market.

In May 2016, Altitec called for more attention to the skills gap for blade repair and inspection in the UK offshore wind industry, emphasizing that a lack of qualified blade repair technicians and recognized training standards is threatening to undermine the efficiency of long-term O&M programs in the UK offshore wind market and the standing of UK service providers in the wider European and global sector.
