Allseas will provide offshore T&I services for the Hugin A PdQ, formerly NOA PdQ, processing platform topsides facility in the Yggdrasil, previously known as NOAKA, area development in the Norwegian North Sea.

The contract award follows the completion of front-end engineering and design (FEED) work for a single-lift transport and installation solution tailored to Allseas’ heavy lift vessel Pioneering Spirit for the Hugin A PdQ topsides, located some 200 kilometers northwest of Stavanger.

The FEED work for the topsides was performed in collaboration with Aker BP between September 2021 and December 2022.

Hugin A PdQ will function as a hub operated by Aker BP, with other fields developed as subsea tiebacks or unmanned platforms. Pioneering Spirit is anticipated to execute the work in 2026.

“We are delighted that Aker BP has contracted Allseas to transport and install the NOA PdQ topsides facility. It will be one of the heaviest offshore installation projects in history,” said Allseas Vice President Projects, Matthijs Groenewegen.

“Pioneering Spirit’s transport and single-lift capacity is unprecedented in the offshore industry. This contract shows that operators view Pioneering Spirit as a fast, safe, efficient, and sustainable option for the installation of offshore facilities.”

The Yggdrasil development concept consists of an unmanned production platform to the north – Munin, formerly Krafla – a process platform with well bay area and living quarters – Hugin A, formerly NOA – to the south, and a normally unmanned wellhead platform on Frøy – Hugin B – which will be tied back to Hugin A.

Aker BP submitted a plan for installation and operation (PIO) and plans for development and operation (PDOs) for the Yggdrasil, Valhall PWP-Fenris (formerly King Lear), Skarv Satellite project, and Utsira High projects earlier this month.

Shortly after it was reported that Aker Solutions and alliance partners had won contracts for the field development projects.
