The association, whose purpose is to promote rapid and large-scale uptake of zero emissions ship technology (ZEST) and drive innovation in the shipping industry, is a collaboration platform for technology providers.

Promoting interests of the ZEST industry, it aims to influence regulators and policymakers at national and international levels to introduce legislation that necessitates the uptake of ZEST.

By joining the association, Air Liquide intends to support the global rollout of green liquid hydrogen ecosystems through ZESTAs events and advocacy.

“Collaboration with Air Liquide marks a significant milestone for ZESTAs and our members, in our mutual objective to create absolute zero emissions maritime ecosystems. Many of our members are already engaging with Air Liquide, so this progression is in perfect alignment with ongoing projects,” Madadh MacLaine, Secretary General of ZESTAs, commented.

“Taking action today to prepare for the future’ is at the heart of Air Liquide’s strategy,” Erwin Penfornis, VP Hydrogen Energy World Business Line, Air Liquide, said.

In related news, Air Liquide issued in May 2024 a new €500 million green bond to finance or refinance energy transition and sustainable projects, in particular in low-carbon hydrogen, carbon capture and low-carbon air gases. This issuance follows the group’s inaugural 2021 green bond issue.
