Aida Cruises, part of the Carnival Corporation, took delivery of the LNG-powered AIDAperla in Nagasaki, Japan from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI).

AIDAperla will set sail for the Mediterranean in the coming days and will be christened on June 30, 2017, in Palma de Mallorca, Aid Cruises said in a statement on Thursday.

It’s sister vessel, the AIDAprima, was delivered in March last year and christened in May.

The two 124,100-ton vessels are both able to accommodate 3,300 passengers each and will use LNG for in-port power consumption.

In April last year, Aida Cruises signed an LNG supply deal with Shell for its two vessels, with Shell becoming Aida Cruises’ exclusive strategic partner in all ports that provide LNG bunkering.
