The inauguration ceremony took place on April 7, 2018.

“The Phase II expansion of Dhamra Port will not only make Dhamra India’s largest port but will also serve as India’s major gateway for trade with South East Asian Nations,” Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, commented.

“This expansion will help us achieve our vision 2020 of 200 MMT, well ahead of time and we now aim to touch 500 MMT by the year 2025,” Karan Adani, CEO of APSEZ said.

The phase II expansion of Dhamra Port is expected to increase the cargo handling capacity of the port to over 100 million tons per annum, up from 25 mtpa currently handled.

The Damra Port Company Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Ports and SEZ, has been awarded a concession by the Odisha government to build and operate the port on built, own, operate, share and transfer (BOOST) basis for a total period of 34 years including a period of four years for construction.

Located 215 km from Bhubaneswar, between Haldia in West Bengal and Paradip in Odisha, the port serves as a gateway to Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar and the entire geopolitical region including ASEAN.
