ABS okays Imodco’s jetty-less terminals technology for ammonia and CO2
Imodco, a part of the SBM Offshore group, has been awarded approval in principle (AiP) by the classification society ABS for the use of its Tower Loading Unit (TLU) and Catenary Anchor Leg Mooring (CALM) Soft Yoke systems for ammonia and also for CO2 injection.

The AiP was issued at Gastech 2024, where ABS reviewed these jetty-less systems, which are said to enhance safety and efficiency by moving ammonia transfers away from shore.
Imodco said that this recognition highlights its commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions, adding that the company will continue collaborating with ABS on solutions supporting the global energy transition.
To note, ABS awarded several AiPs during Gastech 2024, including the one for autonomous technologies for ammonia-fueled ships and the initial design of an ammonia bunkering articulated tug barge.
