Spain invests US$11 million in fisheries-related research

Since 2008, Spain’s Marine Technological Centre (CETMAR) has invested some US$11 million in 82 research projects relating to fisheries, aquaculture, shellfishing and processing.
Nearly 30 of these projects are now complete, however a further 50 projects will continue beyond 2009.

Over half (55 percent) the projects were funded by the Autonomous Administration while 24 percent were funded by the Spanish State and 15 percent were funded by the EU.

CETMAR said that in the future it would increase international collaborative activities with nations in Africa and Latin America.
