Northrop wins $58.4 million contract

Northrop Grumman Ship Systems has been awarded a $58.4 million contract for maintenance and modernization work on Ticonderoga class Aegis cruisers, according to information from the company.

The work will be done at Northrop Grumman’s Pasca-goula shipyard, and waterfront support for ships will be provided at Navy bases and ports, company officials said. Work began on the project Tuesday. It is expected to be completed by July 2011, according to information from the Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command.
