Arun LNG Import Terminal to Come Online Next Year

Malaysia’s Pertamina expects its $80 million LNG storage and regasification terminal in Arun, Aceh, to come online next year, Salis Aprilian, the company’s senior vice president for engineering & operation management of gas said.

“Our objective in building this LNG hub in Arun is for the energy security of Indonesia.

“If we have LNG storage, we can supply gas anytime we need it,” he told Reuters adding that LNG for the 3 mtpa terminal will be sourced from both domestic supplies and imports.

Malaysia’s Arun terminal will be the first LNG export terminal converted into import terminal.

The LNG import project will be run by Perta Arun Gas, a company 70 percent owned by Pertamina (through PT Pertamina Gas) and 30 percent by a company belonging to the Aceh administration.
