RasGas Wins Emirates Energy Award

Qatari LNG producer RasGas recently received the Emirates Energy Award 2013 at an event organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE.

RasGas won the award for its headquarters building in the category of Public Sector Undertakings. Entries included institutions and projects from across the Middle East and North Africa.

The award is a source of great pride, as it confirms RasGas’ position as a regional pacesetter for the adoption of sustainable design practices implemented through practical and cost effective green building technologies,” said Ali al-Marri, RasGas’ Facilities Management manager.

RasGas continues to share its experience of the environmental and economic benefits of green building technologies with like-minded organisations and is also participating in building energy efficiency research projects for the benefit of Qatar.

RasGas is also a founding member of the Qatar Green Building Council. In April of this year, RasGas was awarded the first prize in Kahramaa’s Tarsheed programme and competition which recognised buildings in Qatar that have best adopted technologies to conserve the environment and resources.

RasGas has previously achieved the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification for its Headquarters building from the US Green Building Council, making it the first building in Qatar to be awarded this certification in the commercial interiors category.
