South Korea to Lower LNG Tax

South Korea will lower consumption taxes on liquefied natural gas, the country’s energy and finance ministries said in a joint statement.

According to the statement, Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) will raise electricity prices by an average 5.4 percent to push households and industrial consumers to use other energy sources for daily needs.

The lower taxes on LNG will take effect next year.
