As informed, the large-scale retrofit project is conducted in connection with the installation of scrubbers on board the 86 vessels in question. TMC revealed it will provide compressors for each of the units. The value of the contract has not been disclosed.

Hans Petter Tanum, TMC’s Director of Sales and Business Development, said: “This is not a particularly technically challenging delivery, but the ability to repeatedly deliver high-quality compressors to such a large number of vessels both encourages and forces us to constantly deliver on the highest level. That is easier said than done, but we have proved in the past that we possess the right mindset to achieve this.”

It is understood that, a few years ago, the same shipowner contracted TMC to supply marine compressed air systems to 50 vessels.

As for other recent contracts, it is worth mentioning that the company was hired by South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) to supply compressors for a set of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers the latter is building for an undisclosed national energy company.

Furthermore, TMC clinched a deal with China’s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group to deliver compressors to six eco-friendly 9,000 TEU boxships being constructed for Denmark’s A.P. Møller – Mærsk.
