KOIL Energy and SubseaDesign form alliance for subsea field development

Collaboration

Houston-based subsea energy equipment and services specialist KOIL Energy Solutions, formerly Deep Down, and Norwegian engineering company SubseaDesign AS have formed a strategic alliance to accelerate advancements in subsea technology.

According to KOIL Energy Solutions, the partnership aims to enhance subsea tieback and field development solutions as demand for cost-effective and advanced subsea systems grows globally.

“As the industry seeks cost-effective and innovative solutions to advance subsea tieback and field developments, our alliance with KOIL Energy strengthens our ability to deliver cutting-edge technologies and tailored solutions. Together, we are well-positioned to drive innovation and enhance subsea performance and project efficiency for our customers,” said SubseaDesign CEO, Thomas Andreassen.

KOIL Energy CEO, Erik Wiik, said that subsea tie-back projects are growing more common globally and emphasized that the company offers a range of solutions designed for this sector.

“This alliance will allow us to reach a significantly larger market more quickly. SubseaDesign is an ideal partner, enabling us to engage more effectively with our European clients and offer them local capabilities,” noted Wiik.

KOIL Energy is also expanding into Brazil with a new technology center in Macaé, considered to be the center of the offshore petroleum industry in Brazil.

The company has leased a 180,000-square-foot property with a 27,000-square-foot workshop for engineering, manufacturing, testing, and service support. The Brazilian subsidiary, KOIL Energy Solutions Brasil, will oversee regional operations. KOIL Energy’s headquarters remains in Houston, Texas.

“KOIL Energy’s decision to prioritize Brazil in its growth strategy is driven by this country’s ambitious plan to become one of the top five oil producers in the world by 2030 and maintain that position for years to come,” said Gustavo Goncalves, Managing Director of KOIL Energy in Brazil.

“KOIL’s product portfolio is perfectly suited to support Brazilian operators on this exciting growth journey.”

In December 2024, KOIL Energy Solutions said it was set to deliver subsea distribution manifolds to what it says is a prominent oil and gas company, for a project in West Africa.
