According to DEMCON Unmanned Systems, the DUS V5750 USV received certification under the DNV Standard Craft (DNV-ST-0342) class, confirming that the vessel’s designs and shipbuilding processes meet stringent international safety and quality requirements.

This certification is said to enable serial production of the V5750 USV type, further advancing its commercial viability.

“It’s official! We have received the Type Approval certificate for our DUS V5750 type USVs! This makes us the first USV developer and manufacturer in the Netherlands to receive this certification for a 100% unmanned vessel,” DEMCON Unmanned Systems said.

The company highlighted the challenges faced during the certification process, particularly in ensuring system redundancies within the compact seven-meter design.

“This milestone underlines our focus on delivering high-quality, reliable, and safe solutions. We look forward to shaping the partially unmanned future of the maritime offshore sector together.”

In August 2024, DEMCON Unmanned Systems, in collaboration with Van Oord‘s in-house survey department, celebrated the christening of the VO:X Barentsz, the fifth USV developed through their joint effort, following the development and operation of four USVs by DEMCON Unmanned Systems and Van Oord in previous years.
