Royal HaskoningDHV to bolster renewable energy consultancy offering with new acquisition

Dutch engineering consultancy firm Royal HaskoningDHV has acquired compatriot renewable energy consultancy Pondera to pursue new renewable energy and integrated energy systems projects.

Through this acquisition, Royal HaskoningDHV seeks to grow and strengthen its offering from offshore wind generation to hydrogen production and from energy transports to energy storage.

Royal HaskoningDHV CEO, Marije Hulshof, said: “We are committed to supporting our clients around the world embrace the energy transition – it’s a big part of our mission of Enhancing Society Together. The energy transition is also one of the drivers of our international growth, so we are very excited to have the Pondera team on board.”

Hulshof added that Pondera’s knowledge in the early project phases will accelerate and strengthen its offer, especially in Europe and Asia, where the company anticipates significant investments to be made in renewable energy in the coming years.

Pondera Consult Director, Martijn ten Klooster, added: “Becoming part of Royal HaskoningDHV is the leap in scale we were looking for to grow our impact in the energy transition and keep working on challenging projects at home and abroad. We want to expand our offer, and together we can build on broad expertise and a strong international network. We share the same ambition and vision and look forward to pursuing this together.”

The companies do not disclose financial information about the acquisition but did state that Pondera Development, the sister company of Pondera Consult, is not part of this transaction.

For the time being, Pondera will continue to use its own brand name as part of Royal HaskoningDHV.
