Japan: January LNG Imports Climb

Japan’s LNG imports reached 8.23 million tonnes in January, up 1 percent compared to the year before, according to data released by the finance ministry.

Japan imported 7.7 million tonnes in December, up 7.4 percent compared to the year before.

The country’s monthly LNG imports have been rising steadily year on year, due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.
