OceanOpt, a provider of emissions management solutions, has partnered up with DNV Veracity, the data platform from independent assurance and risk management company, DNV, to ‘simplify’ emissions reporting and compliance with the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) for shipping companies.

As informed, the partnership seeks to offer ‘enhanced visibility and certainty’ for corporations navigating the EU’s carbon regulations by combining OceanOpt’s data management tools with DNV Veracity’s collected emissions data.

More precisely, through an API-backed data flow, OceanOpt can reportedly integrate emissions data from DNV’s Emissions Connect platform into its EU ETS portal. In turn, the estimates are that these endeavors might lend a helping hand with the allocation and reconciliation of EU Allowances (EUAs).

“By connecting OceanOpt to the Veracity cloud we also integrate with DNV’s Emissions Connect, where customers can generate voyage statements for EU ETS. With this at hand, our customers can meet the regulatory requirements in time, as well as comply with various Charter party clauses,” said Anil Jacob, Managing Director of Ocean op. “Further on, OceanOpt’s data management service provides actionable insights for our clients to be able to significantly reduce carbon tax costs while ensuring regulatory compliance.”

According to the Schulte Group, a German maritime solutions provider who established OceanOpt, the partnership with DNV Veracity represents ‘a straight path forward’ for the group’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. Moreover, through data management and platform-based solutions, the company has projected that OceanOpt could showcase tangible progress toward climate neutrality.

“OceanOpt provides the Bernhard Schulte fleet with a customer-specific service package covering all IMO DCS and EU MRV reporting requirements. When they now partner with Veracity and integrate with DNV’s Emissions Connect, we gain seamless access to verified emissions data from DNV inside the OceanOpt solution,” Helge Bartels, COO at Bernhard Schulte highlighted. “This provides us with a trusted baseline for our emissions management, aiming at reducing fuel consumption, improving CII ratings, having full transparency and perfect argumentation towards owners, charterers, authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.

“We are pleased to welcome OceanOpt to Veracity by DNV’s network of integrated solution partners. Their efforts to deliver timely and good quality data management for the Bernhard Schulte fleet is especially noteworthy, and we look forward to working with OceanOpt in helping our common customers obtain, manage and maximize the use of verified emissions data,” Mikkel Skou, Executive Director, Veracity by DNV added.

To remind, in August 2024, DNV Veracity teamed up with trade association INTERTANKO to support the tanker industry in its decarbonization efforts. This recently forged collaboration will reportedly allow DNV verification customers to share their data with INTERTANKO ‘easily’ while eliminating the need for multiple reports to different entities.
