Larsen & Toubro to establish two floating solar plants in India

The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured orders to establish two floating solar plants in India.

The two floating solar plants will have over 150 MWac of capacity, said the company.

“Also, solar power and related hybrid technologies witness rapid innovations that are not limited to cell technologies but also encompass project formulation, application areas, design & engineering and construction methods. We are proud to be at the forefront of implementing such technologically advanced projects of critical nature.”

In March 2024, L&T was awarded a five-year engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a floating solar project to be built at Getalsud Dam in Ranchi in eastern India’s state of Jharkhand. 

Worth approximately $73.1 million, this contract covers design, engineering, supply, construction, testing, and commissioning, along with five years of operation and maintenance (O&M).
