Singaporean shipping company Navig8 has taken delivery of the second of six newbuild MR tankers with emission-reducing technologies from China’s New Times Shipbuilding (NTS).

As informed, the shipowner welcomed the vessel Navig8 Exceed on April 15, 2024. Naving8 Exceed, like its sister vessel Navig8 Excel, features a range of technologies that improve operational efficiency, lessen fuel consumption, and reduce emissions.

The vessels have been installed with an air lubrication system (ALS) from Marine Technology Solutions, and an exhaust gas cleaning system (EGCS) to remove sulphur, otherwise known as a scrubber.

Moreover, Navig8 employs the Shipwatch platform to oversee the performance of its ships and actively contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions. The MR tankers will also integrate a CII monitoring system directly connected to the Shipwatch platform.

The 50,000 dwt ships will join the Navig8 Gamma8 Pool and will be technically managed by Suntech Maritime.

To remind, the first vessel, Navig8 Excel, was delivered in January this year.

According to Navig8, during the sea trials of Navig8 Excel, the ALS system resulted in proven efficiencies in fuel consumption and a power gain of 6.89% MT/day.

Meanwhile, the model of EGCS fitted on the MRs has been certified to reduce sulphur emissions to below 0.1%.
