Fugro Secures Dutch Metocean Data Work

Project & Tenders

Fugro Netherlands Marine B.V. has won a contract to provide meteorological and oceanographic data for the Hollandse Kust (west) and Ten Noorden van de Waddeneilanden wind zones in the Dutch North Sea.

The field data will be obtained by means of two individual systems equipped with a LiDAR system to measure wind properties and dedicated instrumentation to measure wave and current properties. The contract is valued at around EUR 6.6 million.

The contracting authority, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl), plans to have, preferably, 24 months of validated metocean data measured at the two wind zones prior to the closing of the permit tenders.

The permit tender for the 1.4GW Hollandse Kust (west) is expected in 2020, while the permit tender for the 700MW Ten Noorden van de Waddeneilanden is planned for 2022.

Hollandse Kust (west) and Ten Noorden van de Waddeneilanden (North of the Wadden Sea Islands) are two of the three offshore wind zones identified in the Dutch Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2030, which looks to add further 7GW of offshore wind capacity in the Dutch North Sea from 2024 to 2030.

Fugro will also carry out geotechnical site investigations at Hollandse Kust (west).
