French Prefectures Clear Dieppe-Le Tréport

Authorities & Government

The prefect of the Normandy and the Seine-Maritime and the prefect of the Somme region have authorized the construction of the 496MW Dieppe-Le Tréport offshore wind farm and the accompanying grid link.

The decision follows the period of public discussions on the application, which were held from 16 October to 29 November last year.

Both Departmental Councils for the Environment and Health and Technological Risks of Seine-Maritime and Somme issued unanimous approvals for the project authorization.

The authorization includes the approval for the use of the public maritime domain established between France and the Electricity Transmission Network (RTE), as well as the approval for the use of the public maritime domain established with the developer, Éoliennes en Mer Dieppe et Le Tréport.

The approval confirms the construction of the onshore substation in the Petit-Caux commune, the development and operation of the subsea cables and the decommissioning of the wind farm.

Dieppe-Le Tréport comprises 62 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines located 17km off Dieppe and 15.5km off Tréport, in water depths ranging from 5 to 25m.

Construction and installation of the 496MW offshore wind farm is expected to start in 2019, with the full commissioning scheduled for 2021.
