Ports & Logistics

Emden-based Ems Ports Agency & Stevedoring Beteiligungs (epas) has secured a contract to provide the complete handling of port logistics during the operating phase of the Hohe See and Albatros offshore wind farms.

EnBW, the owner and developer of the two wind farms, awarded the contract to epas following a competitive tendering procedure.

The five-year contract is expected to start on 1 September and has an option for two one-year extensions.

The main tasks include the loading and unloading of the wind farms’ Service Operation Vessel (SOV), handling of containers, people, and materials, as well as the customs clearance by the company’s customs department.

EnBW Hohe See is located 95 kilometres north of Borkum and 100 kilometres northwest of Helgoland, while Albatros is being constructed in the immediate vicinity.

The wind farms have a combined output of 609MW which will be placed into operation by the end of 2019.
