Peruvian LNG exports rise

Exports from the Peruvian liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Pampa Melchorita rose in August both compared to the previous month and the corresponding month a year ago. 

According to the data provided by the state-owned Perupetro, six vessels departed the facility, with volumes totaling 899,136 cubic meters of the chilled fuel.

This represents a 24 percent increase when compared to five vessels exported in July, with a total volume of 724,858 cubic meters of the chilled fuel.

This is also a significant jump when compared to August 2018 when only two cargoes were exported, totaling 283,703 cubic meters of LNG.

Out of the six cargoes, three landed in China, two in South Korea with one cargo shipped to Spain.

With the six cargoes dispatched during the past month, the facility’s total rose to 532 since it started operations in June 2010.

The 4.45 million tons per year gas liquefaction plant is located 170 kilometers south of Lima and receives gas via a 408-kilometer pipeline built across the Andes.
