Ports & Logistics

Windhoist Limited has pre-assembled 78 out of 174 wind turbine towers for the 1,218MW Hornsea Project One wind farm at Siemens Gamesa’s pre-assembly site in Hull.

The Ayrshire-based company is providing Siemens Gamesa with the pre-construction support for 174 Siemens Gamesa SWT-7.0-154 wind turbines which are currently being installed at the site some 120 kilometres offshore Yorkshire.

Half of the turbines will be installed by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up Bold Tern, with the remainder to be installed by A2SEA.

The Hornsea Project One wind farm, equally owned by Ørsted and Global Infrastructure Partners, is scheduled to be fully commissioned in 2020.

Ørsted is constructing the wind farm under a full-scope EPC contract and will provide long-term O&M services from its base in Grimsby, as well as a route to market for the power generated by what will be the largest wind farm in the world.
