Golfe du Lion Floater Comment Period Wraps Up

Business & Finance

The public comment period for the Les Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL) floating wind farm pilot project in France has officially closed.

The comment period for the project and its transmission system was launched on 23 April and was open for 31 consecutive days.

Les Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion will comprise four GE Haliade 150-6MW turbines mounted on Principle Power’s WindFloat semi-submersible floater.

The 24MW offshore wind farm is located some 17km off the coast of the Leucate-Le Barcarès area in the Mediterranean Sea in water depths of 65 to 80m.

It is owned by a consortium comprising ENGIE, EDP Renewables and Caisse des Dépôts.

The French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) approved the project in November 2016 as part of the country’s call for tenders for the development of floating wind launched in August 2015.
