Spanish LNG imports decline in November

Spain’s imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) dropped 27.6 percent in November when compared to the same month a year ago, according to the monthly data by the LNG terminal operator Enagás.

LNG imports reached some 13.6 terawatt hours (TWh) last month as compared to 18.8 TWh in November 2017.

Total natural gas imports, including piped supplies, dropped 13.2 percent to 32.9 TWh. Pipeline supplies from Algeria decreased 11.3 percent to 14.3 TWh, as compared to 16.1 TWh last year.

Looking at the biggest LNG suppliers to Spain last month, Nigeria was first with 5.3 TWh, followed by Trinidad and Tobago with 2.5 TWh.

Nigerian LNG volumes rose 44.4 percent year-on-year while volumes from Trinidad tripled to 2.5 TWh.

Imports from Peru, Qatar and Algeria declined considerably and they were down 63 percent, 51.6 percent and 66.7 percent, respectively.

Russia also delivered 1.09 TWh of LNG to Spain last month. There were no LNG supplies from Russia in November 2017.

The Barcelona regasification plant received seven LNG shipments out of the total 16 cargoes imported into Spain during the month under review.

Huelva received four LNG cargoes while Bilbao took three shipments last month. The Mugardos and Sagunto regas facilities received one cargo, each.

There were no reloads last month.
