Japan power companies use more LNG in June

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) use by Japan’s power companies rose by 3.5 percent in June when compared to the same month a year ago, the preliminary data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry shows.

The power companies consumed 3.85 million tonnes of LNG in June as compared to 3.72 million tonnes recorded in the same month last year.

LNG purchases by the power companies in the month under review were at 3.67 million tonnes, showing a decline of 11.3 percent on year, the data reads.

Total generation by the power companies reached 87.3 billion kWh in June.
