The 210,200-cbm Q-Flex LNG carrier Al Sheehaniya, which is owned by Nakilat and chartered to Qatargas, delivered the 40th delivery to the Świnoujście terminal on Thursday.

The 40 shipments include deliveries under a long-term contract with Qatargas, other commercial deliveries from the USA, Norway and Qatar, and two commissioning cargoes, PGNiG said in a statement.

The Al Sheehaniya shipment is also the 31st delivery of LNG from Qatar under the long-term contract between Qatargas and  PGNiG.

LNG has an increasing share in the structure of PGNiG’s gas imports.  In the first half of this year, LNG accounted for 18 percent of the total import of the company, compared to 13 percent a year earlier.

Next year, PGNiG plans to import at least 28 LNG cargoes to Poland, including further spot deliveries, the company said.

“We continue our strategy based on diversifying sources of natural gas and we are building a portfolio of contracts for deliveries of LNG,” said Piotr Woźniak, President of PGNiG’s Management Board.

“We are in the process of concluding agreements with American suppliers for a further several billion cubic meters, which will be at our disposal starting from 2022. We will be able to bring it to Poland or sell it anywhere in the world,” he added.

Polish LNG terminal in Świnoujście is the country’s flagship project to diversify gas supplies and reduce dependence on pipeline imports from Russia.

PGNiG is in charge for all the LNG supplies coming to the import terminal operated by Gaz-System’s unit Polskie LNG.
