Ørsted Picks Communication Tech for Two Changhua Projects

Project & Tenders

Ørsted has awarded Atos with a contract to supply critical communication solutions for two wind farms offshore Changhua County in Taiwan.

Atos will provide solutions based on TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked radio) technology and will be responsible for the complete work, including engineering, design, installation, testing, commissioning and five-year maintenance.

The solution will include a mobile radio system, marine and aviation communication system, marine and aviation tracking system, microwave link, network management and a voice dispatching system.

According to Atos, this is the first call-off contract signed under the new frame agreement with Ørsted for current and future offshore wind projects in the APAC region.

We are proud to support Ørsted in developing renewable energy worldwide, by providing our expertise in critical communication solutions,” said Cyril Dujardin, Atos’ Senior VP, Mission-Critical Systems, Big Data & Security Division.

“This first contract in Taiwan under the new APAC frame agreement reinforces our partnership with Ørsted, which we initiated two years ago within a European frame agreement.”

Ørsted is developing the Greater Changhua offshore wind project which includes four sites that have a total potential capacity of 2.4GW, with circa 1.8GW scheduled for buildout in 2021 and 2025. This includes the 900MW Changhua 1 and 2a wind farm for which the Danish developer took a final investment decision in April.
