Under the agreement, 1 million tons of LNG will be delivered annually split between the country’s two LNG import terminals currently under development in the Moheskhali bay in Cox’s Bazar.

The first terminal is being developed by Excelerate Energy for Petrobangla and it has already received its commissioning cargo at the end of last month.

In its statement, Petrobangla noted that the deliveries of 500,000 tons per year under the agreement with Oman Trading International to the terminal are scheduled to start by the end of May.

The remaining 500,000 tons to the terminal being developed by Summit Corporation are expected to start being delivered in October.

Petrobangla added that negotiations have commenced on developing one or more land-based or floating LNG terminals at Moheskhali, Kutubdia and Piara ports of Cox’s Bazar.

In September 2017, Petrobangla and Qatargas signed an SPA for the supply of up to 2.5 million tons of LNG per annum for 15 years.
