Tokyo Gas unit secures contract for Thailand’s Nong Fab LNG terminal

Tokyo Gas Energy Solutions, u unit of Japan’s Tokyo Gas has been awarded a project management consultancy contract from Thailand’s PTT LNG for the construction of the Nong Fab receiving terminal.

Thailand’s largest energy company, PTT, through its unit PTT LNG, is planning to build a 7.5 million tonnes of LNG per year facility with two 250,000-cbm storage tanks at Baan Nong Fab in eastern Rayong province.

The facility will be built as part of plans by PTT to raise annual capacity to 19 million tonnes by 2023 from the current 10 million tonnes, Tokyo Gas said in a statement.

The Nong Fab receiving terminal, tipped to be worth about $1 biliion, will be located near PTT’s existing Map Ta Phut LNG import plant.

PTT previously said it expects to fire up the facility in 2021.
