REN’s Sines LNG terminal located on Portugal’s Atlantic coast has booked its first two cargoes of the year from Qatar and the United States.

The Qatari shipment is being transported onboard the LNG carrier Dukhan, with the capacity to transport 137,661 cubic meters. The vessel is scheduled to deliver the cargo on January 4.

The second cargo has been sourced at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass liquefaction and export facility in Louisiana. The 176,300-cbm LNG carrier Rioja Knutsen is scheduled to deliver the cargo to the Portuguese facility on January 15, the port’s shipping data shows.

The Portuguese import terminal was the first European facility to receive the liquefied natural gas produced at the Sabine Pass facility in April 2016. The plant is capable of pumping 900,000 cubic meters of natural gas per hour at peak capacity.
