Shell to shut QCLNG export plant for maintenance in May

Shell’s Curtis Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant located near Gladstone in Queensland, Australia will shut down for planned maintenance in May.

The two-train 8.5 mtpa liquefaction plant will undergo partial maintenance on May 7-27, the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) said on Friday.

The scope of the production shutdown will be “greater than one half of a train, but not greater than one LNG train,” AEMO said.

The QCLNG facility is operated by QGC that became part of Shell when the Hague-based company acquired BG Group in February last year.
