Japan power companies use less LNG in Aug

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) use by Japan’s power companies declined by 11.2 percent in August as compared to the same month a year ago, the preliminary data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry shows.

The power companies consumed 4.60 million mt of LNG in August as compared to 5.19 million mt in the same month last year.

When compared to the month before, LNG usage by the power companies dropped 6.5 percent.

LNG purchases by the power companies in July were at 5.35 million mt – showing a slight rise of 0.1 percent on year and an increase of 18.3 percent as compared to the previous month, the data shows.
