Swan Energy orders FSRU for Jafrabad LNG import terminal

Ports & Logistics

Swan Energy has made further progress on its proposed LNG import terminal in Jafrabad as its unit Triumph Offshore executed a shipbuilding contract with Hyundai Heavy Industries.

Under the agreement, the South Korean shipyard will build a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) with the storage capacity of 180,000 cubic meters for the project in Jafrabad, Gujarat, the company said in its filing to the stock exchange.

The terminal, with the capacity to handle 5 million tons of LNG per annum, is being set up by Swan Energy’s unit, Swan LNG.

The company has already contracted Black & Veatch to deliver the jetty topside and onshore LNG facilities for the terminal.

Once completed, the FSRU will be moored to a fixed jetty and regasify imported LNG to enable distribution by pipeline and road tanker.

The facility is expected to go on-stream by early-2020.
