Ørsted Prepping Green Bond Issuance in Taiwan

Business & Finance

Ørsted is preparing for a potential Taiwan New Dollar (TWD) denominated green bond issuance in Taiwan towards the end of this year to finance the Greater Changhua offshore wind projects.

The company has selected BNP Paribas, Bank of Taiwan, CTBC Bank, and Deutsche Bank as arrangers.

In April 2019, Ørsted made the final investment decision for the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a projects. Two months later, Ørsted signed a green five-year TWD 25 billion (EUR 726 million) syndicated green revolving credit facility with 15 local and foreign banks in Taiwan.

Located 35 to 50 kilometers off the coast of Changhua County, the Changhua 1 and 2a offshore wind farms will have a total capacity of approximately 900MW.

The wind farms will feature 111 Siemens Gamesa 8MW wind turbines installed on jacket foundations. The offshore construction of the projects is scheduled to start in 2021.
