BW Offshore said on Monday that the Sendje Berge FPSO has won a one-year extension with Addax Petroleum Exploration (Nigeria). The firm period has been extended to the fourth quarter of 2022.

The Sendje Berge FPSO is located on the Okwori field offshore Nigeria. It has been operating for Addax since March 2005. In May 2017, Addax terminated the contract for the FPSO following a dispute related to the payment of outstanding day rates for the unit. Addax also requested BW to provide a demobilisation plan for the vessel.

However, Addax and BW in October 2017 agreed on terms of a contract extension for the vessel, thereby withdrawing the previous termination notice. The contract extension was for a four-year fixed term with two additional one-year extension options, starting 6 November 2017.

In the summer of 2020, the vessel was involved in a pirate attack, during which some of its crew members were kidnapped. Following the attack in July, the announcement about the release of the workers came in August 2020.
